The department of emergency treatment-and-prevention service to the children and adult population; carrying out emergency surgical handling of traumatic injuries of eyes and other eye pathology, hospitalization of patients with urgent pathology, in case of need – consulting by medical officers of the VSMA Chair of Ophthalmology and managers of the VRCOH departments.

In the unit the following diagnostic techniques are used:

1. Direct and indirect opthtalmoscopy.
2. Skiascopy.
3. Biomicroscopy.
4. Perimetry.
5. Exoophthalmometry.
6. Diaphacoscopy.
7. Tonometry.

The following operations are performed :

• primary surgical d-bridement (PSD) of penetrating wounds of eyes, diascleral extraction of foreign bodies from the eyes;
• PSD of appendages of eye wounds.

The following manipulations are performed :

• introduction;
• skiascopy;
• biomicroscopy;
• exoophthalmometry;
• echography;
• echobiometry;
• diaphanoscopy;
• tonometry;
• gonioscopy;
• color sense test.

In addition to the aforesaid :

• para-bulbar and retrobulbar introduction of medications under the conjunctiva;
• injections: intramuscular, intravenous, subcutaneous;
